Rob Fischer, aka DJ Raw.Ko, is an Ohio based, multi-genre DJ who graces the decks at flow festivals such as FLAME and Kinetic, along with other club and festival events across the Midwest. Inspired by hip-hop culture and the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff, Raw.Ko began his musical journey at the age of 17 with his first turntables.Eleven years later, he continues to share his musical love and talent with receptive crowds, playing everything from psychedelic influenced sounds, to EDM, to ambient, and much in between. Raw.Ko cites some of his closest friends, or chosen family, as inspirations in his musical journey. He enjoys DJing because it is a process of self-improvement that also brings joy to others. One of his favorite things about DJing is getting caught up in the moment of musical creation, only to look out to the crowd and see the people on the dance floor in full motion. When he is not DJing, Raw.Ko enjoys prop manipulation, reading, computer games, and drawing, among other activities.

I will also be making myself available for additional help and one on one time with anyone who is interested. Several practice staves will be available for those without one to borrow for the class.

Fundamentals of Poi
Come one, come all! Whether youve been spinning poi for a while or just picking them up for the first time, this class will help pave a clear and exciting path ahead for your poi development. Well start at the very beginning where we flail around aimlessly with zero goal and no possible mistakes. Everyone wins, even face shots! Once thats out of our system, well move on to talk about the movement of the poi itself, how that relates to our body, and how it all comes across visually to those watching us. I will talk to you about the different types of horizontal and vertical planes as well as what static and extension movements mean. To round out our familiarity, we will play around with these ideas in their normal forwards directions and their reverse counterparts. The class will finish by touching lightly on the large branches of poi theory youre bound to move on to soon, including: - Weaves - Flowers - Pendulums - Tracing Along the way, Ill provide exercises to help train your brain and body in these new ideas more effectively, and well bring it together by covering some of the larger patterns to aim for as your next big milestones in your poi journey. We will periodically take breaks to practice all of these ideas throughout the class, and thats when I will walk around to do quick 1-on-1 check-ins to make sure everyone is clear on what were working on. The goal is for everyone to walk away with plenty to work on in their practice.

Partner Fire Eating with Zeus Bigalow and Stone Fox
Join Stone Fox and Zeus Bigalow, for partner fire eating. This course will begin with the information needed to safely incorporate a partner into fire eating. We will walk you through moves utilizing vapor techniques, fleshing variants, and communicating with your partner to facilitate these techniques. In this advanced fire eating class it is essential to know the fundamentals of fire eating and vapor manipulations. Having a partner is not essential. Fire eating is fun, but when you do it without a partner it is, after all, just playing with yourself. *A little about the instructors* Stone Fox and Zeus Bigalow are both based out of Nashville, Tennessee and have been instructing fire eating together, locally in the past year. Zeus Bigalow has coined his own techniques in fire eating and become popularized through such works. Meticulous Tracing
Tracing is one of the most important and beautiful concepts to grasp when it comes to poi spinning. Learning tracing patterns will force you to clean up your planes, harmonize body movement with poi, and gain greater control over your props. This class covers intermediate and advanced patterns. No matter how long youve been spinning, I guarantee you will learn plenty. We will start by talking about what tracing is and what it looks like. This includes the hand positions involved in tracer theory and the possible transitions in between them. After a short amount of theory talk, we will go through practice patterns that will help us exercise these ideas one hand at a time. Well spend enough time to work on both hands in a variety of directions until it all makes enough sense to move up to both poi. Once single-hand practice is done we will cycle through the four main direction and timing combinations while covering pattern ideas in each as well as exercises to help your body make it all happen. The timing and direction combinations include: - Same Time / Together Direction - Split Time / Together Direction - Same Time / Opposite Direction - Split Time / Opposite Direction After weve played around with each, well bring it all together by talking about transitions to help us move between it all as freely as we want. Throughout the class, well take breaks so everyone can practice while I do 1-on-1 check-ins with everyone to make sure were all clear on whats being worked on. If theres time at the end, well open the floor for some skill sharing on tracing patterns to help everyone load up on ideas to practice.

I will start this class by introducing the main families of double contact staff. We will go over folds, violins, traps and SOSC, wings, hybrids, and finally crossers if time allows. I will be focusing on sharing different ways to practice these frameworks, and how to navigate between the different families in a flow. Our main goal will be getting the class able to maintain a flow with double contact staff and work in new moves in their own practice. There is quite a bit of content that can be covered depending on how quickly the class can grasp the concepts, so I would be willing to teach this class in a two hour block if desired. I will be focusing on giving attendants multiple methods to practice each move and make sure to give them plenty to practice on their own. I will also be making myself available for additional help and one on one time with anyone who is interested. Several practice staves will be available for those without one to borrow for the class.

The Power of Pendulums
Pendulums are the ultimate transitional tool for poi artists. This subtle idea often goes unnoticed and underused even by the most experienced spinners. Learning pendulum theory will round out your ability to move between timing and direction changes while giving you a long list of ideas to boggle the minds of anyone watching you. This class covers intermediate and advanced patterns. No matter how long youve been spinning, I guarantee you will learn plenty. We will start by talking about what pendulums are and what they look like. This includes the hand positions involved in pendulum theory and how pendulums work at each point. After a short amount of theory talk, we will dive into practice patterns that help us exercise pendulums one hand at a time. Well spend enough time to work on both hands in a variety of directions and different hand positions until it all makes enough sense to move up to both poi. Once single-hand practice is done we will cycle through the four main direction and timing combinations - along with the different hand positions for pendulums - while covering pattern ideas in each as well as exercises to help your body make it all happen. The timing and direction combinations include: - Same Time / Together Direction - Split Time / Together Direction - Same Time / Opposite Direction - Split Time / Opposite Direction The hand positions well focus on are the four main ones involved in diamond flowers: North (straight overhead), South (near our waist), East, and West (Left/Right) After weve played around with each, well bring it all together by focusing on how pendulums force transitions to happen and how we can take full advantage of that. Throughout the class, well take breaks so everyone can practice while I do 1-on-1 check-ins with everyone to make sure were all clear on whats being worked on. If theres time at the end, well open the floor for some skill sharing on pendulum patterns to help everyone load up on ideas to practice.

Since entering into the world of public with his style of ever flowing sets, he has been telling stories with sounds across NC. He has played in most venues in Raleigh and held a monthly all trances residency at Mosaic prior to its closing. Loving Burning Man and its culture, Stricken has played in sound camps at BM and regionals, to include Duck Pond at the man.

With a head filled to overflowing with sounds, he has produced a single 6-song album to date (with a special re-meow-ster by DJ Gon himself), and is currently working on more projects. Outside of DJ'ing and producing, he is a new father (son born on August 1, 2017) and has a beautiful fire breathing kitteh dragon wifey. Most of his time is spent between work and family, but he can be caught wandering around music shows of all type or hosting open-decks in his house.

Music Performed by: DJ Raw.KO

Rising from the flames of impromptu, late night fire spinning sessions on the beaches of Florida - music, dance, fire and flow were the genesis of ignifluous (ignis fire + fluere flow). ignifluous quickly united his passion for music and the flow arts into a fusion of electronic music sets that compliments flow artists of all styles. Following his hunger for innovative electronic music set him on a path that led him to spend three years in the thriving underground electronic bass music scene in Tokyo, Japan. It was here that he crafted his unique style for the moody and emotive sounds of Deep House combined with the full frequency response of Drum & Bass. Returning to the US with a determination to share the experiences of the Tokyo underground, he has been renegade mixing at music and flow festivals from Burning Man to Suwanee Hulaween. One thing is certain when ignifluous is on the decks - fire and flow will exist in harmony.

Danny B is a DJ out of Baltimore, MD where he is a founding member of the East Coast burning man theme camp Camp Beemore. Danny has been making moves as a DJ for just under three years now, the amount of dedication and passion he brings to each set is one of the things that truly separates him from the rest. Whether playing his weekly Monday gig at the District of Columbia's premier cannabis event or raging protest song remixes with his partner in crime (and percussion) Kamajian 100 feet in front of the White House for Catharsis, his sets are definitely not to be missed.
